End of the year

Jun 22, 2018
The school year has ended, and LHS spring sports have come to an end. The Softball, tennis, and baseball seasons have come to an end. The Littleton High School Softball team made it to the first round of the NHIAA playoffs, but sadly lost to Wilton in their first and only game of the tournament. Hopefully they are able to build off from this season and make a good run into the tournament next year.

The Littleton High School Baseball team on the other hand ended up winning their first round game against Hopkinton. It was a tight game, back and forth through the whole game. The game went into extra innings and in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied 9-9, Nick Sanborn had a walk off hit to win the game and advance the Crusaders into the final four.

In the next round Littleton would face off against Wilton. Littleton started the game off early with a couple of runs, and then after holding off Wilton, they ended up getting the bases loaded with Quinton Ross coming up. First pitch of the at bat and Quinton hit a grand slam to send the Crusaders up 9-2. The Crusaders then coasted for the rest of the game and ended up winning with a final score of 9-4. After this game Newmarket defeated Pittsfield to face Littleton in the Championship game.

The Championship game was set and to be played at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
Littleton traveled all the way to Manchester Saturday, June 9th.Even with the seniors just graduating in the morning, the team was focused on winning this last game. In the first few innings there was a sense of nervousness, until Danny Kubkowski came up with a clutch triple to put the Crusaders up. He would later score again to make the score 3-1. After this the Crusaders cruised through the game with Newmarket only ending up with 3 hits. The Littleton Crusaders were once again Division 4 Baseball State Champions. The Crusaders had won the state championship back in 2016 as well. Winning this year was a great way for the seniors to end their career as a Littleton Crusader.

Littleton Crusader Basketball made the trip to Gorham to play the Huskies on Wednesday January 31. The Girls had the first game of the two and were looking to get their scoring back into a rhythm, they have had some low scoring games and they are trying to turn that around. They played extremely well and were having a lot more shots fall. The game ended with a final score of 52-14. Even though the game wasn’t very close the Girls are looking to keep their scoring efforts up.

The Littleton Boys played the second game and had no trouble at all. They looked in control from start to finish. Gorham was really outmatched against Littleton and Littleton took the game and ran with it. The final score ended up being 74-39 with Littleton winning. Both Littleton teams are looking to take this type of play into the playoffs coming up towards the end of February.

As January wrapped up, the Littleton Crusaders played against the Lisbon Panthers for the second time this season on February 2. The Girls dominated the first game and scored a in abundance that game. The game was close for a while until the Lady Crusaders started feeding the post and using their height advantage to score repeatedly. The final score of the Girl’s game was 59-22 with the Crusaders winning.

The Littleton Boys have been plagued with sickness and injuries this season. They have been relying on their bench players to help and win games. They were left without a few players against Lisbon, including Parker Briggs who is one of the teams leading scorers. The Crusaders still played exceptionally well as Jack Costa came off the bench and scored 11 points. Danny Kubkowski led the scoring with 28 points in the 77-48 win over Lisbon.
