End of the year

Jun 22, 2018
The school year has ended, and LHS spring sports have come to an end. The Softball, tennis, and baseball seasons have come to an end. The Littleton High School Softball team made it to the first round of the NHIAA playoffs, but sadly lost to Wilton in their first and only game of the tournament. Hopefully they are able to build off from this season and make a good run into the tournament next year.

The Littleton High School Baseball team on the other hand ended up winning their first round game against Hopkinton. It was a tight game, back and forth through the whole game. The game went into extra innings and in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied 9-9, Nick Sanborn had a walk off hit to win the game and advance the Crusaders into the final four.

In the next round Littleton would face off against Wilton. Littleton started the game off early with a couple of runs, and then after holding off Wilton, they ended up getting the bases loaded with Quinton Ross coming up. First pitch of the at bat and Quinton hit a grand slam to send the Crusaders up 9-2. The Crusaders then coasted for the rest of the game and ended up winning with a final score of 9-4. After this game Newmarket defeated Pittsfield to face Littleton in the Championship game.

The Championship game was set and to be played at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
Littleton traveled all the way to Manchester Saturday, June 9th.Even with the seniors just graduating in the morning, the team was focused on winning this last game. In the first few innings there was a sense of nervousness, until Danny Kubkowski came up with a clutch triple to put the Crusaders up. He would later score again to make the score 3-1. After this the Crusaders cruised through the game with Newmarket only ending up with 3 hits. The Littleton Crusaders were once again Division 4 Baseball State Champions. The Crusaders had won the state championship back in 2016 as well. Winning this year was a great way for the seniors to end their career as a Littleton Crusader.

The Littleton Crusaders had a big home game Friday Night January 19 against Epping High School. The lady Crusaders were looking to continue their winning streak as they are the last undefeated team left in Girls division 4 basketball. They played a great game where they came out with some offensive aggression scoring 63 total points. They also held Epping to only 32 points with some great defensive hustle. The Littleton boys had a close game against Epping. Todd Krol-Corliss won the game just at the last second with a buzzer beater shot. The whole gym was ecstatic as the boys won 64-63.

The Crusaders played the White Mtns. Regional Spartans at home Tuesday January 23. The Lady Crusaders were looking to have a good game and maybe have more of an offense then they did last time they played White Mtns. They played another great defensive game as did the Spartans and the game ended up really close all the way up to the end where in the last minute the Spartans couldn’t catch up. Littleton won 37-35. Both teams are defensively strong and neither one typically gives up a lot of points. The Boys had the second game on Tuesday Night and the Crusaders came ready to play. They wanted revenge from their earlier matchup in which they lost to the Spartans 57-53. Brody Fillion the starting center for the Crusaders was injured earlier in the week and was not able to play so the Crusaders were missing some height, and this is a game in which they needed. The shots were falling for Littleton though as Todd Krol-Corliss and Parker Briggs combined for 33 points. The Crusaders won 64-61 as White Mtns. couldn’t make a three pointer in the last seconds of the game to tie the score.
